Formed in 2018 in Bologna, Italy, Leatherette got the idea for their name from The Normal’s 1978 single Warm Leatherette: “we thought it sounded like a mockery of the stardom surrounding the world of rock’n roll. Fake leather - like some kind of self-irony, cheap, anachronistic, disgraced and even more punk”. Their sound evolved and developed jazz atmospheres while adding punk outbursts and hints of no wave.
